Dougherty Orchard (9-20-2014 ) Petting Zoo Adventure.

DOUGHERTY ORCHARDS

This has been a tradition of sorts with our family.
For as long as I can remember I have brought my boys here to get apples, feed the animals, walk around the zoo and take pictures. My record of pictures taken there goes back MANY years.

This collection is from 9-20-2014. After leaving the Car Show, we had lunch then drove to the Orchard. Both the Car Show, Hilltop Restaurant and The Orchard, are all within 15 minutes of one another. Makes for an easy day out with the kids, especially for parents that have small children.

You can ride "The Apple Express" for $2 and Feed the Animals for $1.
$3 per kid and you have made their day.

Dougherty Orchards is located at:

This is another attraction right off of National Rd, and doesn't take all day to experience.
Depending on the time of year their activities vary too. Always fun, always family friendly.

Let's begin our picture journey shall we?

Meet the face of "The Apple Express".
2 Tickets and your children can take a ride on this "Bucket Train".
The caboose are made of buckets and fitted with cushions and restraints.

My son riding "The Apple Express"

Don't worry, the goats won't hurt you.
They use their tongues to lick the food from your hand.
It may sound gross, but it really isn't as bad as you would imagine.
Also, there are sanitizing stations and a hand washing station located right outside of the petting zoo.

This guy was being loud and animated.
I assumed that he may want some attention, so I took some pictures.

A baby protected by mother.

Baby Ducks, AWWWWWW!
I took about 10 pictures of this particular yellow duck.

I am amazed at the diversity in animals that coexist in one habitat.

This fella had a hairdo that couldn't be ignored.
For some reason I heard "Gilbert Godfried" in my head when I saw it.

The Island of the "Ha Ha you can't pet us..." ducks.

Hair was the theme today.
This pony was sporting a "Flock of Seagulls" that just had to be photographed.

What does the fox say?
"Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...."

There's more than animals.
There are miles of open land, farms, trees, wild life, and serenity.

Even the wild birds take advantage of the free food.
Surprisingly, they are a bit more tame than expected.
No, you're not going to have a magical Disney moment, but you can get close enough to snap a few decent pictures of them.

I love colorful animals.
There are times it seems as if they are posing for you.
Or maybe they are just watching you because you're a big clumsy human?
Who knows...

Catching a ride on moms back.
...and this concludes our adventure to "Doughertys Orchard"

Every visit is always a pleasant experience.
It is nice to see all the families bringing their kids and letting them take part in some nature.
In the modern world some times we need to UNPLUG and just leave the tech work behind.
Go and see some animals that you don't see outside of YouTube.
Take in the life, colors and smells that exist outside of your homes.

I recommend "Dougherty Orchards" for an inexpensive, positive, family bonding experience.
